I did it! I finally made something just for me. The Chelsea Bag by Amy Butler.
And I love it, sort of...
The fabrics are awesome but I'm not a fan of the little clutch.
I should have remembered that when I started making it.

But gosh darn it, it's one pretty bag.
(Thank you Capello for talking me into it)
All in all, I'm happy with it. I do have to say it was fun walking into the local fabric store, Sarah's Fabrics, and have them all comment on my bag. Not one person asked if I made it, they just knew I had (because I bought the fabric from them) and then they stopped & talked "shop" about the pattern and everything. I was in heaven.
So, Amy Butler, I forgive you for being really wordy when you write your directions, for being confusing and I even forgive you for those damn handles even though they almost made me cry.
Just 'cause the ladies at the fabric store said I did a good job.

You did a GREAT job on that bag. I love Amy Butler - I have some of her fabric aging nicely. I also LOVE Heather Ross' Lightning Bugs - I also have some of her fabric which will probably have to age even long than the Amy fabric before I use it.
aaaaiiiiieeee!!!! that bag is so cute!
and, hey, wait a minute. YOU HAVE SOME BICYCLE FABRIC. you know, a strip of that would look fabulous in my new project...
Awww.. I does look great. I love it. And those ladies in Sarah's just rock. I'm going to have to finish (oh wait, start) my skirt so I can wear it in and feel good.
:)
The bag is super cute! I don't like clutch style bags either. I am partial to messenger bags. Amy Butler has a pattern for one of those but I don't know that I love it.
Still, it looks great and having the ladies in the sewing shop appreciate it does take away some of the sting of frustration that the handles caused you.
Capello's such a trouble maker, isn't she?
The bag looks wonderful... well done!
Those fabrics are awome. Well done. I'm not a huge fan of that particular pattern, but it looks great all finished like that.
Totally adorable! I love the fabrics. I think your job on the handles looks great, and I'm sorry they made you cry, but they were worth the tears! :)
What an adorable bag! I'm glad you made it so I could look at it because I won't be making one myself. Bags that don't close = no no for me. Also bags with handles that terrify the bejesus out of me are on my "no thanks" list. But dang, it's cute!
By the way, I'm still waiting for the rest of your "100 things" list. Just so you know.
pretty bag. Amy Butler patterns make me say naughty words!!!
