I feel like I'm repeating myself.....

Finally, the Derby Bag is done!
I really liked this pattern, Simplicity 4263, I had my doubts but it was pretty quick and easy.
It's just perfect for carrying gear or as a diaper bag.
And since I couldn't just give her a bag, I made a small zippered pouch to go with it.
This time I added a little loop for a key ring.
Okay, Last time I talked about the Anchor Shirt I said that I'd take my time and not be so hasty, right?
Well, I sure didn't take my own advice.
Once again, I got all excited about the anchor shirt and Lori's great advice to embroider red around it.....Yeah, didn't turn out so well.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love the red thread outline, just maybe I shouldn't have been lazy and done it on the sewing machine or maybe I should have put some stabilizer on the back before zigzagging or maybe I shouldn't have started on it late at night when I was already tired.

Oh,well. At least I know I like the red outline.

That's something, right?

Easter Re-Visited

Do you know how hard it is to get a picture after the kids are all hopped up on candy?

Since I've made those bunnies, Maisy and I have been having this running conversation:
"Mom, my bunny needs some more clothes. Would you make some? "
"Sure, honey."
"And some more Friends"
"um, okay"
"And a bed"
"Alright, I'll see what I can do."
"oh, and a soft* kitchen and a bathroom with a soft toilet"
"ummmm..."
"And a soft sewing machine so they can sew. You can make it. I know you can."
"sigh" and smile.

*Soft means a fabric toy.

You win some, you lose some

So last night, I finally stayed up past 8pm and got some work done on a few projects.

One was this bag for my good friend Amy.

I get to visit her in Tucson in about a week (without the kids!!!) and had to get my hiney in gear because I promised to make her this bag a really long time ago. See, Amy's trying out for the Tucson Roller Derby and needed an appropriately awesome bag to carry all her gear in. (If you must know, I am completely jealous and if Lawrence ever has a Roller derby team, I AM THERE!)

Luckily, Lori directed me to this rockin' Roller girl fabric and the bag was born! I still need to add the lining and finishing touches but I think it's turning out pretty well.

Sadly, This did not.
I had found this cute striped shirt for Maisy for only $1.74. While I thought it was a little boring, I figured I'd just add a quick freezer paper stencil and spruce it up. Weeeell, that didn't work so well. I should have gone with my instincts. Originally wanted the Anchor to be huge and take up most of the shirt. But I was impatient and only had this little anchor and just couldn't wait one more day to enlarge the picture. It had to be done last night! Oh, well, next time I'll plan a little better and play around with the colors a lot more. Maybe I'll even go back and see if they have any more shirts, for less than 2 bucks you can't go wrong.

What every little girl wants for her birthday!

"Mom, mom, I know what I want for my birthday!" Maisy said running up to me when I got home from work. In her hand was this rumpled piece of paper that she'd been holding onto all day.

"It's a Hot dog cooker. See here is where you cook the hot dogs, and up here is where you put the buns and the cooked hot dogs. There's one thing for the ketchup and one for the mustard and look, here's a basket with french fries. " She told me excitedly and clearly pointing out all the different features.

Being the rational one, I had to reminder her, "But, honey, you don't like hot dogs".
She looked me right in the eye and said with such a serious little face,
"oh, I'm not going to eat them. I'm going to sell them."

God, I love this kid.

Finally got something done!

Boy, did I have big plans for this week! I was going to get all sorts of things done.... Oh,well, at least I got one thing finished, this Hello Kitty Tote. One of Maisy's little friends is having a birthday on Saturday and I thought this would be a fun gift. We're going to put in a few coloring books and then make a quick pencil case and voila`, a birthday present extraordinaire! (or at least I hope so :)

I do still have more things to finish this weekend but all this rotten weather is making me a tired girl. Wish me luck because I sure want to make something cool for my Granny. She's celebrating her 81st birthday this weekend and she's the one that got me started in all this crafty business by teaching me how to crochet.
Thanks, Granny, for taking the time to teach an angst ridden and sometimes surly teenager how to create beautiful things. I really owe you one!

Didn't mean to be gone so long....

"Mom, I can't believe you've been so neglectful of your blog!
Get some new stuff up so I can quit giving you the Stink Eye!"

The Holidays can sure wear a girl down.

There was lots of sharing and eating of candy and cuties in their Easter Outfits.

We had lots of fun but sure were tired by the end of the day.

Even the bunnies were exhausted.

Tomorrow I'll have better pictures.
Gotta wait for the professional (aka Matt) down load the fancy pics.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I am madly in love with this shirt!

Don't you just love it when a project turns out well? If I may say so myself, Arlo's Easter shirt turned out pretty darn cute. Unfortunately, the zigzag around the edges makes the picture look blurry but in real life, it looks great.

Okay, Now just two bunnies and I'm done.... until next week.

And the count down begins....

whew! I finally finished my girl's Easter dress. It's nothing fancy and waay too big but I think it will be cute. I seriously need to work on my Clothing making skills. I really would like to be able to make for clothes for the kids and myself since I just don't like alot of the options out there.

(Why, oh, why do they feel the need to make slutty clothes for little girls? I am constantly amazed that so many of the clothes for little girls are either really gaudy (all sparkles & glitter), talk about being a princess and are way to short, tight or revealing. What happened to letting little girls look like little girls for as long as possible?

Okay, enough of that rant! Can you tell I've been shopping for summer clothes? )

This is my current work in progress.

I wanted Arlo to have a tie that matched Maisy's Easter dress but had no idea how to make one. Luckily last week I was walking down town with my friend, Molly, and saw a cute little T-shirt with a tie appliqued on the front. Well, since this was in a store that charges an arm and a leg for kids clothes, I just borrowed the idea.

Originally, I was going to make Arlo an all pink tie because he' s cool enough to carry it off but decided that the navy stripes with the pink looked better. Hopefully I'll get his shirt finished tonight and then I can start on the bunnies! Jeez, next time someone please remind me to start earlier!
